Friday, November 20

MeritCare Foundation’s 25th annual Festival of Wreaths event is being held Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21 at Ramada Plaza Suites Crystal Ballroom, Fargo. There will be a Hope and Healing Celebration with Tom Shanklin, a missionary evangelist from Mankato, at the Mahnomen Area Service Center on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20-21 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 22 at 9:30 a.m. The meeting is sponsored by Healing Waters Church of Mahnomen, along with Good News Fellowship of Gary and the Christian Outpost in Twin Valley. Saturday, November 21

The 6th annual “Bowling for Babies” fundraiser, sponsored by the LIFE Coalition, will be held on Saturday, November 21at West Acres Bowl. Bethany Retirement Living holds a preview event in the assisted and independent living portions of their new campus, on Saturday, November 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Public is invited. The address is 4255 30th Avenue South.

The Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra presents their Holiday Pops! Concert under the direction of James Popejoy on Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature the Grand Cities children’s choir, the North Dakota Ballet Company and a combined church choir of over 100 voices from across the region. Sunday, November 22

St. William’s Youth Group holds a spaghetti dinner and bake sale on Sunday, November 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Argusville Community Center. Free will offering.

Community Alliance Church will host a Thanksgiving celebration at the Armory on Sunday, November 22nd at 11 a.m. with a dinner following.

The Greater Grand Forks Symphony youth orchestra presents their fall recital on Sunday, November 22 at 3 p.m. in the Empire Arts Center.

Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead invites you to celebrate Pastor John Hulden’s 50th birthday on Sunday, November 22 from 4-6 p.m. in the Christian Life Center. You are asked to bring 50 coins, or bills of any denomination which will support the REACH Orphanage in India, a school in Haiti and the Churches United for the Homeless in Moorhead.

Tuesday, November 24

The Crookston Men’s Christian Fellowship luncheon will be held on Tuesday, November 24 at noon at Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Lee Yarger will share.

Messiah Lutheran Church – Heartsprings Ministry - has Naomi Marchand from West Funeral Home speaking, as part of the grieving series on Tuesday, November 24 from 12:15-1:00 p.m. Free lunch.

Thursday, November 26

The 15th Annual FREE Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be provided on Thanksgiving Day from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. This years dinner will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 210 7th St S Moorhead, MN.

Friday, December 4

Salem Evangelical Free Church presents “The 4th Gift of the Magi”, featuring live Christmas music and a full-length original drama production for all ages, on Friday and Saturday, December 4th and 5th at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Childcare provided for pre-school children.

The 83rd annual Concordia Christmas Concert, “Journey to Bethlehem” will be presented on Friday, December 4th at 8 p.m., Saturday, December 5th at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. and on Sunday, December 6 at 3 p.m. in Memorial Auditorium, 12th Avenue and 7th Street South, Moorhead. Tickets are available at the Memorial Auditorium box office from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, on line at Concordia Christmas Concert, or by calling 888-477-0277. Tickets are $12 with a $2 handling fee for on-line, phone and mail orders.

Saturday, December 5

The 7th Annual Winter Fling for kids with special needs will be held on Saturday, December 5th from 1-3 pm at Nativity Church in Fargo. The event is hosted by the South Fargo Girl Scouts and is free of charge for kids with special needs in pre-K through 12th grade. Kids will enjoy an afternoon of carnival games, music, crafts, Ryan's Magic Show, cookie decorating and a visit from a special guest. Pulse Campus Ministry and Echo Ministries are sponsoring Toby Mac and Kutless with their Winter Wonder Slam concert on Saturday, December 5th at 6 p.m. at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. Additional artists include B. Reith and Stephanie Evans, and there will be a message by Nick Hall. “Grief Share”, an educational and supportive program that provides guidance, healing for the journey of grief, will meet monthly from 2:00-3:30 p.m. Each session will include a DVD or lecture, followed by discussion and sharing. Each session is self contained so participants can attend one or many sessions. The fourth session: “The Effects of Grief” will be held at St. John Lutheran Church. The Lake Agassiz Concert Band will present a winter concert in Weld Hall on the north side of the MSUM campus on Sunday, December 6 at 3 p.m. Free and open to the public.

Thursday, December 10

Hope Lutheran Church, south campus at 3636 25th Street South, Fargo, will host an evening for those who are experiencing the loss of a relationship this Christmas, on Thursday, December 10 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. There will be a discussion and video, sharing about how to create a season of hope and healing. Open to all. No reservations required. Free will offering.

Bethel Evangelical Free Church, in partnership with the New Life Center, presents “Christmas in the Red” – an original Christmas musical – Thursday, December 10-Saturday, December 12 at 7 p.m. with a Saturday afternoon matinee at 2 p.m. Children’s tickets will be half price for the matinee. Sunday, December 13

North Dakota State University Music will present a holiday performance featuring part 1 of Handel’s Messiah and the Bach Magnificat in D on Sunday, December 13 at 2 p.m. in Festival Concert Hall. A Cancer Care Support Group meets at Atonement Lutheran Church, 4601 South University Drive, Fargo on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. This group is designed to provide a confidential atmosphere where cancer patients, cancer survivors and family can discuss the challenges that accompany the illness with others who may have experienced the same challenges.

Birthright needs people-men or women- to staff our office hours. Do you have 6 (or more) hours to spare each month? Is God asking you to give a little time each month to provide hope to someone in crisis? Or do you know someone who would be perfect for Birthright and needs a little nudge? Birthright will provide free training beginning Monday, Oct. 12th for three Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30 in the Clay County Family Service Center. Call 291-5799 to register. They are also in need of “Birthright Buddies”- People who feel they aren’t ready to work directly with the clients but would like to help the volunteer on duty . These people are asked to attend the first training session so that they will be comfortable answering telephone calls and greeting clients.
